The Squares and Rectangles Gallery
Here are some pictures that show beautiful quilts and other projects made with squares and rectangles
This little quilt was made by Elise for charity. As you can see, it is made from squares in a 9-patch design This quilt is very lovely with its soft colors, pretty prints, and the lovely shades of green which are used in the lattice and borders. Elise used a stripe for the border, which ties in all the colors and adds a final decorative accent. This is a wonderful project for a beginning quilter and makes a great quilt for the many charitable organizations which want and need quilts.
Never underestimate the beauty of squares and rectangles. The playful fabric and the color is what gives this quilt so much personality. Notice how the 4-patches play into the pattern. What little girl wouldn't love this quilt?
This Christmas placemat makes good use of both panels or fussy cut fabric and novelty fabric. It is both festive and happy. The use of black and white, combined with all the pattern, make these placemats dynamic.
Here is another fun Christmas project. As you can see, it is all done with squares. Notice the different Christmas prints in each square, and how the color is balanced over the quilt. You do have to be careful cutting and sewing so all the squares are even, but this is a great project for a new quilter. You could make it very small (for the wall), or make it larger for the table, or a lap quilt, depending on how large you cut the squares. Really cute!
