The Card Trick Quilting Block

picture of the card trick quilting block

This Card Trick Quilt Block looks hard, but when you take a closer look at it you can see how easy it is to make.  The trick is to get the right colors in the proper grids.

the grids of the card trick quilting blockThe Card Trick is a 9-patch quilt block. There are 3 different quilt patches or grids in this block.  The center patch is a quarter square triangle.  The corner patches are made from half square triangles, the the remaining 4 patches are Split Quarter Square Triangles.

Make your blocks, per the instruction on the linked pages, and sew them together.   It can be confusing to get the right colors in the right places in the patches.  If you draw each block on a piece of paper, and either color it or add a piece of the correct fabric, it will help keep you from getting confused.

This is a cute block.  Don't be afraid of it.  You see this block in lots of sampler quilts.
