The Star Puzzle Quilting Block

picture of the star puzzle quilt block

Here is another pinwheel quilt block variation.  This one is easy, as long as you get the value correct.  The center of the pinwheel is in the middle and then extends into the star points.

I like blocks that have half square triangles in the corners, because it gives a curved line appearance to what are usually mostly straight lines in quilts.

This is a 4-patch block, and looks best when placed with other 4-patch blocks.  I've put a few together at the bottom of the page.

I've also put an illustration of a quilt make of just this block.  I think to make it interesting it would need to be made scrappy.

The patches are obvious with this block.  There are 16 and every one of them is a half square triangle.  Refer to the instructional pages for half square triangles if necessary. If you are planning on putting this in a sample quilt, be sure and use simple measurements to fit with your other sampler blocks.

This is a pretty block.  Have some fun with it.
