The Split 9-Patch Quilting Block
The Split 9-patch quilting block is a block that is split in half
value. It is often compared to the
log cabin quilt block,
as you can arrange the block in similar ways.
Split 9-patch is an easy, frugal quilting block to make. As you can see
grids in the picture to the left, there are only 6 squares, and 3
half square triangles
in this block.
This is a block that should be made scrappy, so you
can see the different squares. If you don't make it scrappy, it is just
half square triangle. That can easily be made another way.

Each grid finishes at 2 inches. The block is 6 1/2 inch
half square triangles and squares, and then
sew them together as shown. Follow good
It is difficult to get confused on this block, so it makes a good first quilt.
variation of this block is to make the center grid a solid square.
