The Snowball Quilting Block

The Snowball Quilt Block is a great design for highlighting both beautiful pieces of fabric, and novelty prints.  It is a frugal and easy 4 patch block.

Best of all, it is so simple to make.  It is a frugal block in that it is fast, but often there is some waste of fabric as you fussy cut the highlighted pieces.

The easiest way to make the Snow Ball Quilt block is to just use squares.  You need one big square for the center, and 4 smaller squares for the corners.

Take the small squares to the iron, fold them in half diagonally, and press so that you get a sewing line.

Put the squares in the corner as shown, and stitch on the diagonal line.

The press the seams to the corners, as has been down with the top left square.

Trim the extra fabric under the seam, and you are done.

Your snowball will look like the picture at the top of the page.
