The Friendship Star Quilting Block

friendship star quilt block

The friendship star block is an easy block.  It is constructed using half square triangles and square blocks.

The easiest way to make this block is using the half square method method #2.

Make your 4 triangles.  Use the easy measurements, so they finish at 2 inches.  Make them with a dark fabric for the star, and a light fabric for the background.

Also cut out 2 rectangles, 2 7/8 x 5 3/4  (One in each fabric.)

the pieces of the friendship starYou begin by creating the center horizontal row by adding a half square triangle on each end, per the picture.

Then piece the top and bottom row, per the picture, and sew the horizontal seams.

The seams are usually pressed away from the center block.

If you have used easy measurements, the block should measure 6 1/2 inches.
