Frugal Quilting Basics

2 Quilt Projects Using Triangles

picture of a quilt that uses value and half square triangles.

Artist Ginger

This quilt was constructed using half square triangles.  Notice how the placement of the light and dark side of the squares makes the dynamic chevron design, which is the personality of this quilt.

a quilt made with half square triangles that look like pinwheels

Artist Nancy

This is another quilt that was constructed with half square triangles.  Notice how different it is from the above quilt.  The placement of the blocks and the colors make the blocks look like they are placed diagonally.  Your eye may also see quarter square triangles (or hourglass shapes)  and pinwheels.  The use of color, as well as all the secondary shapes,  give this lovely quilt character and charm.
